Mosters Inc Sulley Popcorn Balls | RECIPE

Hi, Michelle here from Michelle’s Party Plan-It sharing how to make Sulley Popcorn Balls! My son is a huge Monster’s University fan and last year I created a Monsters Pre-Scare School party for him. I love to bake and make treats, but by no means can I create gorgeously detailed cookies or treats so I whipped up some Sulley popcorn balls. Popcorn balls are super easy treats to make with the kids and with a little bit of food coloring can be used to match almost any party theme.

What You Will Need:

1/2 cup unpopped popcorn

1 10 oz. package marshmallows

1 tbs butter

14 purple candy melts

non-stick cooking spray

wax paper

glass bowl

large mixing bowl

silicone spatula/spoon

electric blue food coloring gel

Directions:

Step 1:  Pop your popcorn. (I use an air popper.) Set aside 1 handful of popcorn and put the rest in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Microwave the purple candy melts for about 30 seconds until melted. Scatter the handful of popcorn you put aside on a piece of wax paper. Pour the candy over the popcorn and mix to make sure they are thoroughly covered and separate the kernels. Let stand until hardened.

Step 3: Put the marshmallows in a glass bowl with the butter in the center and microwave for about 1 minute and 15 seconds.

Step 4: Add a squeeze of Electric Blue food coloring gel in the melted marshmallows and stirIMG_9055s

Step 5: Add the marshmallow to the popcorn. And mix in by hand.

**TIP: Spray your hands with the non-stick cooking spray before mixing, this will keep the marshmallows from sticking to your fingers too much.

Use caution, the marshmallow will be very hot! (I always do this part when making them with the boys, so that they don’t get burned.) **

Step 6: Compress the popcorn marshmallow mix into a ball, should make about 6.

Step 7: Push in the purple popcorn you made earlier into your popcorn ball. Add a paper straw and place them on a cupcake wrapper for presentation!

That’s it! Sulley Popcorn balls!
