I LOVE Halloween, and I have a major sweet tooth. I’m a die hard chocolate lover. When it comes to candy, if it ain’t chocolate, it ain’t worth it! But as a mom, I’m constantly struggling with making sure I’m giving my kids the healthiest options possible.
Today was the Fall party for my daughter’s first grade class, and I was the party organizer. 34 six year olds hopped up on sugar and artificial food dye, covered in stickers and glitter, running amok. I think herding cats would have been easier. The kids had a great time. We split the kids into three groups and they moved through stations – a craft, a game, and a snack – and then they passed out the treats they brought to share with the class. I loved the party and was so grateful the kids had such fun, but all of the sugar, and the aftermath, had me rethinking the types of treats we so readily reach for when it comes to kids gatherings this time of year.
I’ve hunted down some treats that are not only healthier options, but super fun too. Enjoy!
