playground-birthdayPlayground Birthday Party

Are you tired of the same party locations and trying to think of something original? How about hosting your child’s next birthday party at the playground? I know what you’re thinking…we go to the playground every day so how would this be original and fun? Well, I’m glad you asked!

Why Plan A Playground Birthday Party?

  • kids love the playground
  • plenty of space for kids to run around
  • plenty of space for parents to sit around and chat
  • no limitations on the amount of guests you can fit in the space
  • no time limitations
  • it’s free
  • with cool play structures, you don’t have to plan many (or any) party games

Making A Playground Birthday Unique:

  • plan a picnic with mini picnic basket favors
  • host a BBQ using barbeques at the park or bring your own
  • bring along water toys and turn it into a water park
  • hire a food truck to come out to do catering
  • skip the birthday cake and assign a family member to be on “ice cream patrol” to run to the store to grab frozen treats after the meal
  • play some classic children’s games that you enjoyed as a child
  • set up an obstacle course using the play structure
  • go ahead of time and setup a scavenger hunt at the park or hide a treasure in the sand and give each child a mini shovel

Playground Party Packing List:

  • food & drinks
  • cooking supplies
  • cooler for drinks
  • birthday cake
  • paper plates & plastic cutlery
  • plastic tablecloths
  • garbage bag
  • balloons
  • sunscreen
  • camera
  • supplies for games (if you’re planning games)
  • prizes for games (if you’re planning games)
  • party favors

Forever Your Prints has adorable printables for a playground party and some really cute playground party food ideas. I love the tire swings!

I love the idea of the park for a party! I feel that if I do have a party at the park that as a curtosy to other kids in the area that are not attending, I would make the extra effort to bring a small party favor so they don’t feel excluded in any way. Something like a bag of balloons to open and share amogst the kids.

My youngest daughter was born at the end of July. We had her party at the park this year and it was great! My favorite part was easy clean up. I could have use some of these tips.

i have done this a few times. i like to collect everything in a clear plastic bin during the weeks before so nothing gets left behind. As i make purchases, or think of something that might be handy, i drop it into the box. don’t forget serving utensils (knife for the cake, etc), tape, labels/markers for drinks and such. i also like to take a Handwashing station (bowl, soap, towel, water jugs) to use when handling food and so the kids can easily wash their hands after playing before lunch/snacks whether there is an available restroom or not. Anchors for the cloth and paper products- it gets windy here. coffee filters to hold the hotdogs instead of plates. first aid kit,
a bounce house offers loads of excitement without limiting numbers of other kids at the park joining in, while freeing me from the stress of directing and organizing games and such to fill the time- worth every penny when u can get it for my kids ages.

Great Idea!! And love the idea of hiring a food truck.
Just have to have a rain date as a back up in case weather doesn’t permit.
